4. Plan for action.

Now that we have rested, got our bearings straight, account for my cash and balances arranged and have created a list or pool of resources, we need to work out an approach or a plan, follow it and execute it.
Draw up a daily or a weekly plan and try to meet your deadlines.
Find out good job sites on the net. Find out effective resource houses, placement agencies through the Net. Create an account with them (in most cases it is free) and submit your resume. Think of sites for which you had a resume, and go and update that resume.
Now try social bookmarking sites. Facebook, linked in, are great. Twitter though not exactly great, can come in handy too. Search the blogosphere. There must be good and relevant blogs which will provide you with a suggestion on better ones. Meet local headhunters in your area. Check the classifieds and appointments section of the major local dailies. Keep tab on every site you have registered and every job you have applied for. Keep your eyes open to offers for unknown quarters. Tally with your plan every night before going to bed. Be systematic in your approach, update your plan with the results or add notes to every action you have taken. This would keep things under focus and you can think of a new contact, approach , activity every couple of days. Work out your plan.

5. Share your plan with your family and friends.

This is a nice way to keep your (hopefully not) sagging morale. Talk to your family or close friends. Share the plan that you have drawn up. Talk about it, discuss it. Discuss your position. Discuss your finances. Share the pain that you are going through. Share the uncomfortable days. Open up to them and be more approachable. Share the plan that you have drawn out for the coming weeks. Share the update of your activities. It will make them keep their faith on you, and also conversely make you have faith in yourself. Ask for advices, suggestions and viewpoints. You will find that in many ways this would be helpful to you. It may not always be that they would be able to add much value to your plan, but who knows? And even if that is not the case, the warmth of companionship and closeness of relationship always acts as a major booster and brings more confidence in a person who knows that he has friends, relations, and partners to fall back on or to share the bad times.

6. Build proper resume and cover letter

This is a golden rule for any job seeker. You not only need to have a resume but a proper resume. Firstly check and recheck for any spelling or any typo error. Secondly follow a proper format for the resume. Thirdly the content should be separated into logical and sections showing your contact details, experience, special abilities, last job roles and responsibilities. It should also have a brief on your education, family status and some other relevant personal details. There are scores of resumes available with a Google search and pick up one which is relevant to you. Make edits and amends to fit it to your needs before posting it on the Net. In case you are applying for a particular job, make changes to your resume if needed so that it focuses on your skills knowledge in that line of work. Do not make a resume much lengthy and the general rule is to keep it to a length of within 3 pages. Use bulleted sections for your achievements on a particular role. Use proper font faces and font sizes for a enjoyable reading.
In case of a cover letter, show decency in thanking the employer for being able to apply for the vacancy. Mention the job you are applying to, and mention a couple of lines on your experiences and strengths.
Close the application by expressing your interest and how you would be a productive member of the employer’s team. Mention your contact number too, and attach your resume before emailing the same.
